The can responds to how you hold it: how far away you are, how fast you move and what you are painting on. Nothing is a fixed brush stroke.
Close to the surface the line is sharp and dense. Back off and the cone widens into a soft, dusty band. Spray across a surface at a shallow angle and the paint smears and thins out, like on a real wall.
A slow pass lays down thick, saturated paint. A quick flick pinches the line to a thin taper. Flare sets how strongly speed changes the width, so you can draw clean fat caps or fast outlines.
Paint builds in layers. Go over a line again to deepen it, or hold still and the spray pools into a hollow ring and starts to run. Overspray and splatter gather along the edges of slow strokes.
Ribbed sides, doors, roofs and rough concrete each break up the line differently. Chrome, gold, copper and tar black catch light in their own way, and the washer takes paint back off in streaks.
